Please reach us at becentredequine@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
On your first visit we will go through information about how we work safely with horses, what your goals are and make sure that we have all the paperwork we need. All with a cup of tea of course! You will then get introduced to the herd of horses and get familiar with the setting. Depending on how confident you are feeling you will get to work with an individual horse on the yard.
You can have as much or as little direct contact with the horses as you like. Some people like to be very hands on with the horses and work through exercises in the school; others prefer a more natural setting and some distance. It's important to know that this can change on a week by week basis depending on how you are feeling each session.
We do a range of activities with the horses from observation to grooming to ground work and boundary setting, obstacle courses and trust work. Thew specific exercises will depend on what your goals are and how much work you are happy to do with the horses.
It's really important that you are safe and comfortable whilst you are with us so robust footwear is an absolute must, even in warm weather. In the winter layers and a coat are essential and in the summer clothes that will keep you cool and protected from the sun. We suggest that people wear gloves but understand that this is not for everyone.
If you are worried that you don't have appropriate clothing or footwear please chat to us and we will try and help you sort this.
No, all of our sessions are carried out on the ground.
We want to make sure that everyone can access our services and therefore operate a means tested approach to pricing sessions. We have a number of fully or partially funded places available throughout the year. If you can afford to pay then be assured that all of the money is invested onto the business to help care for our horses.
If the weather is a bit miserable then we can carry out sessions in stables or under cover. If we feel that the weather is so bad that it poses a danger to working with the horses or for people travelling in to get to us then we will cancel the session and rebook at no cost to you.
