I am really excited to be able to combine my love and interest in riding and horsemanship with the skills I learnt in my previous career as a counsellor. The personal journey that I have been on has shown me how important our mental state is to a successful and harmonious relationship with our equine partners. I use a combination of mindfulness, cognitive-behavioural therapy and person-centred approaches to support people who are working towards the following:
Loosing your confidence is easy to do and so hard to regain. It can make your visits to the yard isolating and filled with dread that the same thing or worse is going to happen again. I can help you recover your confidence after a bad fall or a negative experience.
For some of us the thought of competing is attractive but scary at the same time. I can help you overcome these anxious thoughts so that you and your horse can enjoy getting out there and be successful too.
I think we have all experienced the frustration of looking forward to getting to the yard but after a bad day the feeling that nothing goes right. Life encroaches very easily on what should be an enjoyable part of our lives. I can teach you techniques and methods of managing 'life stuff' to allow you to make the most of the time you have with your horse.
I believe that a lot of the things that I have put into practise in my riding career have also benefited me in many other aspects of my life. Despite having advocated these techniques during my time as a counsellor for young people, I don't think I truly recognised the worth of practising mindfulness or the benefits of cognitive-behavioural strategies until I was spending more time in the great outdoors. I am pleased to offer equine facilitated therapy and therapy sessions in a green safe spac
Stress and anxiety affect a huge number of people every day and can have a massively debilitating effect on their work, personal life and relationships. I can help you identify what in your life is causing you stress and anxiety and help you find ways of managing this effectively.
Low self esteem and confidence manifests itself in many forms, from not feeling worthy of career progression or a lasting, loving relationship to being part of serious body image issues including anorexia, bulimia and self harm. I have extensive experience in supporting people who are suffering with low self esteem and confidence issues.
Low mood or depression leaves us feeling isolated and that there is no hope of change. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mood then please get in touch to discuss how I can help uncover the reasons behind this and ways of moving forward to a more positive place.
